Plastic World

Three facts about plastic concerning our health and the health of Tellus Mater:

* It takes 1000 years for plastic to be biodegradable.

* Thirty million plastic bottles finish up wasted every day.

* There is increasing proof that PET and polycarbonate give off toxines which we engulf.

Furthermore, plastic is a cheap means, especially Second and Third World countries cannot cope with its effects and how to process plastic. This is reflected in a huge amount of plastic just dumped throughout cities, cattle etc. We’ve seen this when visiting Africa and Asia, it was shocking.

Those countries need to keep up with the rest of the world, they could “care” less what materials are used, which is understandable up to some point. The First World should educate, it concerns not only the specific countries, we can’t be impartial.

What projects do you know of that strive to limit the amount of plastic?

Concerning health effects : things are more alarming than one would think. See for example http://www.redorbit.com/news/health/152503/genderbender_chemicals_are_harming_unborn_boys or do a search on phthalates + gender

Hi G.

Alarming article indeed, thanks for sharing.
To make things even worse, when the baby boys are born, the Bisfenol-A (BPA) is used to produce nursing bottles.
BPA is endocrine disruptive.

It’s paradoxal, humans want to survive, but many objects we produce and the way we produce it, will make sure human kind will weaken or won’t be as productive as it should be.
