Reflection: “Introducing the Collaboration Curve”

Article: “Introducing the Collaboration Curve”
Source: Harvard Business Publishing

Interesting article on Network Effects and how people do amplify the Network Effects by improving theirselves (nodes) in being a part of the network.

The example given in the article is regarding World of Warcraft, where players advance in earning their experience points in a decreasing time curve.
How, asks the writer, their ability is leveraged through discussion forums, wikis, databases and so on.

And that is interesting! If networks increase collaboration and the value of the shared knowledge increases through multiplier effects and it can diminish the dynamics of the Experience Curve, businesses hold a valuable means to innovate and create new value.

The Collaboration Curve increase the internal knowledge of a company, by enabling fast and transparent interaction. Companies definately should delve in Enterprise 2.o possibilities, a second or parallel step is to make use of the crowd’s intelligence to replace or complement on certain processes and functions.

Do you encounter both internal and external applications that enforces the Collaboration Curve?
