Music review: Ludovico Einaudi – Divenire

Have you ever heard music which mesmerized you?
I’m 100% sure you have. For me “Divenire”, by Ludovico Einaudi belongs to this special group of music.

Ludovico Einaudi Divenire

The music by mr. Einaudi is one which I can’t describe with words, or at least what his music effectuate.
He composes “Minimalist” music, though he doesn’t prefer to be labeled.
It’s ambient, instrumental and contemporary classical music, meditative and introspective.
The two tracks which absolutely captivated me are “Divenire” and “Primavera”, they take me to old memories which unconsciously are set off by the music, away from the Now, away from daily activities.

Einaudi is able to sell out major concerts and has great CD sales, making him one of the contemporary classical successes of the past years.
He made a successful entry in the film music world and got him 4 awards for the following contributions to Michele Sordillo’ Acquario, Giuseppe Piccioni’s Fuori del Mondo and Luce Dei Miei Occhi and Roberto Andò’s Sotto Falso Nome.

What contemporary classical composers do you recommend?

I just would like to add that there is a general trend whereby webpages are relatively losing importance as ‘presentation cards’ when compared to social media ‘pages’ and profiles. If anything I envisage this trend is likely to intensify in the near future.

I have been a fan of Ludovico for the past couple of years and this album definately shows what a wonderful composer and pianist he is. I was lucky enough to see him in concert at the Barbican performing most of the songs from this album as well as from some from others, and live he sounds just as good if not better than on the CD. I think this shows he has true talent rather than some acts who re-record and re-sample over and over for their CD. I never get bored listening to it and find that it sounds better the louder it is :D Despite often having simple melodies, some of which are similar to previous works (which critics don’t seem to like this album because of, but fans love it) I feel it is still original and a joy to listen to.
