The etymology of Jupiter

The etymology of Jupiter derives from the Archaic Roman religion.

Jupiter = Ju + Pater
Ju = to shine
Pater = Father
Jupiter = to shine Father

Thus Father of all that shines, Father of all energies.

This was in line with the solar patriarchal society it was.
The etymology is simply logical and at the same time marvelous, because Roman religion in its most ancient form consisted of invocations (of names), the so called Indigitamenta.
The names ( nomina agentis ) contain to a certain stretch the power and the soul of the invoked.
