The state of affairs regarding food

On a weekly basis I’m flabbergasted on the state of affairs regarding food and how industry steers and society is led through the huge amounts of nonsense and eco-misleading all in favour of economic advantages on justifications such as hedonism, the green movement and creative destruction.

Three examples:

* Cultivated fish is fed by 4 times the quantity of free fish. This fish is then proclaimed to be better for the fish ratios in the seas and oceans. What’s the point of destroying free fish in order to feed a smaller quantity of cultivated fish?
Companies will do a lot to gain economic advantages and the Green trend is certainly a cash cow.

*100 kilos of salmon is needed to create 1 litre of fish oil pills.
Out of the many positive effects it proclaims, just one is demonstrated and why not just eat salmon and get the essential oils? (Cooking takes time?)

*To plant soy fields, large parts of forests are being destroyed, meaning that CO2 processors are destroyed. This in order to provide the need of soy in food for the increasing demand of lifestock and cattle. Emerging economies like China and India are demanding more meat now that the population can afford it (meat is a luxury food). Why not moderate consumption of meat and therefore lessen the need for huge soyfields?

I can go on and on.

We live in a hasty world, our society is getting lazier and lazier, and the demand for convenience increases (read the article which is reflected upon in “Reflection: “Today in the Zombieconomy”) even if it affects the overarching system.

Are we truely the only specie who thinks that Tellus Mater can thrive and acts heavily to bottom-up destruction?
