10 reasons why your CEO should embrace Social Media

My top 10 reasons are:

* Social Media will change the way how business is conducted.

* Social Media is about people, not technology.

* Have a clear understanding and overview of your company in the landscape.

* Learn from your target audience through Social Media. Social Media tools can help to create thorough Competitive Intelligence.

* Let your enthausiasts be your ambassadors. Word of Mouth has much more impact than advertising.

* Let Social Media replace or complement internal functions and processes.

* Do understand the power of the crowd and what it can accomplish (be it positive or negative).

* Understand that the Tipping Point will occur faster and sooner due to Social Media centralisation and transparency.

* Your brand is what people think of it, therefore make absolutely sure the perception and attitude is in favor of your brand based on actions and interactions.

* Customers want more than just a shallow relationship.

This list is far from complete, please do add your reasons!

Good points — to which I would add:

Embrace social media as you would any medium that brings you and your stakeholders closer.

Because it engages people in a conversation, rather than advertising to them.

Because it engages your customers in helping to build your brand.

Because social media is favoured by youth; your future long-term customers.

Because consumers as brand advocates serve as the best way to reach others via social media and word of mouth.

Excellent list….another reason that always wins clients:
- just showing your valued client that you are staying ahead of the technology curve and that you WILL NOT let him proceed into the web marketing void without looking at all current alternatives to expose his products and services ;)

Good points, thank you!

Interesting to read that many of you wrote from the point of perspective of the people/customers and not from the producers!

Customers want to be “prosumers”, let them, if approached well, this is certainly a win-win situation.

Social media is a great source for high volume traffic…the only question that comes into effect is the immediate quality. The best social marketers are able to keep a higher level of quality while those that are entering the game seem to be questionable
